Fort Smith Animal Haven (FSAH) takes in dozens of pets daily and encourages anyone missing a pet to give us a call at (479)-551-2221 or visit our shelter in person as viewing pets in person is the most reliable way to locate your pet. Come to FSAH at 9501 Black Bear Trail, FORT SMITH, AR 72916; hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Closed on Wednesday and Sunday.

Pets brought in as lost or stray have a holding period to help their owners find them. Holding periods for lost pets vary by age, species, and whether the pet has identification.

• ​Mothers with a nursing litter do not have a hold period

• Stray puppies and kittens up to 4 months of age do not have a hold period

• Stray puppies and kittens 4-6 months of age have a 1-day hold period

• Stray animals over 6 months of age without a microchip or tag have a 3-day holding period

• Stray animals with a microchip or tag have a 5-day holding period
